How to Add a Link in Your TikTok Bio
The website field is one of the few TikTok features the follower count unlocks, and the threshold is published.
How to add link in TikTok bio: open your profile, tap Edit profile, find Website (listed under Links in newer versions), paste the URL and save. The field only appears once a personal account has at least 1,000 followers, or on a business account, which TikTok lets add a website regardless of follower count.
A TikTok bio link is the single clickable website address shown on your profile under your bio text. It is the only clickable outside link TikTok gives an ordinary account; links typed into captions, comments or the bio text itself are not clickable.
TikTok's help center also notes that the feature is not available in every region, and that links can only be added or edited in the mobile app.
The website field is a rare case on TikTok: a feature that the follower count switches on.
Most of what TikTok does ignores how many followers you have. The For You feed tests every video on its own merits, and a first video from a new account can travel further than anything from a large one. But a handful of features are gated by a published threshold, and the bio link is one of them. Under TikTok's rules as of October 2026, a personal account gets the website field at 1,000 followers. Below that, the option simply is not in the edit screen.
The reason is not hard to guess. A clickable link on a profile is the main way TikTok traffic leaves TikTok, and an open link field on brand-new accounts is an invitation to spam. A follower threshold makes it costly to create throwaway accounts that exist only to send people somewhere.
Business accounts are handled differently. TikTok's help pages say a business account can add a website without the follower minimum, because the business has its own route through TikTok's business tools and terms.
That leaves a personal account under 1,000 followers with two options: switch to a business account, with its trade-offs, or reach the threshold. The 1,000 figure is the same one TikTok uses for LIVE on most accounts, which is why the follower count needed to go live and this field tend to unlock together. The count itself is the public number on your profile, and TikTok followers change that number.
How do you add a website link to your TikTok profile?
Once the field is available to you, it takes under a minute. These are the steps in the current mobile app:
- 1. Open TikTok and tap Profile at the bottom right.
- 2. Tap Edit profile.
- 3. Find Website. In newer versions it sits under a Links section, where you tap Add and then choose Website.
- 4. Paste the full URL, including https://, and tap Save.
- 5. Go back to your profile and tap the link once to check it opens the right page.
Why can't I add a link to my TikTok bio?
There are four common reasons, roughly in order of how often they apply.
You have fewer than 1,000 followers on a personal account. This is the usual one. The field does not appear greyed out; it is simply absent, which makes people think they are looking in the wrong place.
The feature is not available in your region. TikTok's help center says the website link is not offered everywhere, and in those places no follower count switches it on.
You are on the desktop site. Links can only be added or edited in the mobile app.
The app is out of date, or the account is restricted. An older version may show the old layout without the Links section, and an account with restrictions on it may lose features temporarily.
If you have just crossed 1,000 followers and the field is still missing, give it time and update the app. The threshold is checked by TikTok, not instantly by the screen.
How many followers do you need to put a link in your TikTok bio?
1,000 on a personal account, as of October 2026, according to TikTok's help center. That figure has been stable for some time, but it is TikTok's to change, so treat the edit screen as the final word.
The count has to be real followers on your account at that moment. Dropping below 1,000 later is not well documented; reports differ on whether the link stays, so do not plan around keeping it if your count falls.
The threshold is the same number many people already know from LIVE, which is why the two are often confused. They are separate features with separate rules, and LIVE has an age requirement the link field does not share.
Other thresholds on TikTok are higher. Monetization through the Creator Rewards Program asks for far more followers and views; how many followers you need to get paid on TikTok sets those out.
Can business accounts add a link to their TikTok bio?
Yes. TikTok's help center says a business account can add a website link regardless of follower count. In some regions TikTok describes this as a registered or verified business account, so the exact wording you see may differ.
Switching is free and reversible: Settings and privacy, then Account, then Switch to Business Account.
The trade-off is music. Business accounts are limited to TikTok's Commercial Music Library, which is cleared for commercial use but does not include most of the popular tracks personal accounts use. If your videos depend on trending sounds, a business account takes that away.
Business accounts also present differently, with a category label and business tools in the profile. For a brand that is an advantage. For a creator whose content is personal, it can make the account feel like an advertiser.
If the only reason to switch is the link, compare the cost of losing popular audio with how far you are from 1,000 followers.
Can you put a clickable link in a TikTok caption?
No. URLs typed into a caption, a comment or the bio text are shown as plain text and are not clickable. Viewers would have to copy them by hand, and TikTok may treat repeated link-posting in comments as spam.
The website field is the one clickable outside link on an ordinary profile. That is why so many creators point it at a link-in-bio page that lists several destinations: one link, many places.
There are a few other routes TikTok controls itself. Profiles can show linked Instagram and YouTube accounts where those fields are offered, and some accounts have access to product links, shop features or ads with a destination URL. Those depend on eligibility and region, and none of them makes caption text clickable.
So if a video's purpose is to send people somewhere, the caption should tell them the link is in your bio, and the profile should make that link obvious.
How do you see clicks on your TikTok bio link?
TikTok's own analytics show profile activity, and business accounts can see more detail about website taps where TikTok offers it. Personal accounts generally cannot rely on TikTok for a click count.
The reliable method is to measure on the other end:
- Add tracking parameters to the URL, for example a source tag naming TikTok, so your site's analytics can attribute the visits.
- Or use a link-in-bio page or link shortener that counts clicks itself.
- Compare those clicks with profile views in TikTok analytics. Clicks divided by profile views tells you how well the profile sends people onward.
What makes a bio link worth tapping?
A visible reason. A visitor sees your name, follower count, bio text and the link, and the bio text is what tells them why to tap. Say what is on the other side in a few words.
One destination that matches the videos. If people arrive from a video about one product, a link to your homepage loses them. A link-in-bio page with that product first works better.
Videos that point to it. The link only gets taps from people who reach your profile, so the videos have to give viewers a reason to go there. Profile visits come from interest in the creator, and the way TikTok picks who sees each video is covered in how the TikTok algorithm works.
A profile that holds up. The follower count is part of what a visitor weighs before tapping anything, and TikTok followers are the matching service for that number. For the views on the videos that bring people to the profile, see TikTok views; every TikTok service is on the TikTok page.
Questions people ask about the TikTok bio link
Do you need 1,000 followers to add a link on TikTok?
On a personal account, yes, as of October 2026. A business account can add a website link without the follower minimum, according to TikTok's help center.
Why is there no website option in my TikTok profile?
Usually because a personal account is under 1,000 followers. Other reasons are a region where the feature is not offered, using the desktop site, or an outdated app.
Can I add a link to TikTok from a computer?
No. TikTok only lets you add or edit the website link in the mobile app. The desktop site shows the link but does not let you change it.
Does switching to a business account remove music?
It limits you to TikTok's Commercial Music Library, which is cleared for business use but leaves out most popular tracks that personal accounts can use.
Can I put more than one link in my TikTok bio?
The website field takes one URL. To offer several destinations, point it at a link-in-bio page that lists them.
Are links in TikTok captions clickable?
No. URLs in captions, comments and the bio text show as plain text. The website field is the only clickable outside link on an ordinary profile.
