A repost puts your post on another account and into the timeline of everyone following it, with your name still on it. That makes threads reposts the one number here that buys shelf space instead of appearance. Everything else on a post says how it was received; this one decides who gets to receive it. How do I get more reposts on Threads on an older post?

Expect the placement on an old post and not much beyond it; if the point is reach, order on something you published this week.
How do I delete a repost on Threads if I change my mind?
Open the post, tap the repost icon again and undo it. It comes off your profile and out of the feeds it went into. A repost of your post made by another account belongs to that account, so you cannot pull it down from your side, and blocking them is the only lever you have there.
Why can't I repost on Threads on some posts?
Most often the author is private and you are not an approved follower, so nothing leaves that account. The other usual reasons are that the post was deleted while you were looking at it, that the account has blocked or restricted you, or that you already reposted it and the icon is simply showing as active. None of those are fixable from this side, which is why an order points at your own public post.
Can you hide reposts from other people on Threads?
There is no switch that takes the reposts tab off your profile for visitors.
