How do I hide my subscriber count on YouTube?
You can't hide the count by itself. If you open YouTube Studio's advanced channel settings looking for the old checkbox, it won't be there. The options that do exist are these:
- Keep your subscriptions private: in YouTube's privacy settings, choose to keep all your subscriptions private. This hides which channels you subscribe to, not how many subscribe to you.
- Hide your whole channel: YouTube lets you hide a channel from its account settings, which makes the channel page and its videos unavailable to others until you restore it. The count goes with it, but so does everything else.
- Rely on rounding: once a channel passes 1,000 subscribers, the public figure is abbreviated, so the exact number is only visible to you in Studio.
How to disable subscriber count on YouTube
There's no disable switch. Some third-party guides and videos from after 2022 still show the old steps, and following them only leads to a settings page without the option. If a site offers to hide your count through a browser extension, it's hiding it on your own screen only; everyone else still sees it.
How to enable subscriber count on YouTube
There's nothing to turn on. Since YouTube removed the option, subscriber counts show on channel pages and under videos by default. If you can't see a channel's count, check that you're on the channel page itself and that the channel hasn't been hidden or removed.

What visitors, brands and tools see now
Everyone sees the same rounded number. YouTube's help center explains the public abbreviation: a channel with 1,234 subscribers shows 1.23K, and under 1,000 the count is exact. The YouTube Data API, which third-party tools read, documents that the public subscriber count is rounded down to three significant figures.
The API also still documents a field called hiddenSubscriberCount, described as indicating whether a channel's subscriber count is publicly visible. It's a leftover of the period when hiding was possible, and tools that read it will generally find the count visible. What they can't get is the exact figure; they see the same rounded number a visitor does.

- Brands and agencies: the same rounded public count, plus whatever you share from Studio when they ask.

Why does the public count move in jumps?

Does hiding the count affect the Partner Program?

Most people who look for this setting have a small channel and would rather not have the number judged. With hiding gone, the options are the ones every creator has: publish consistently so the count grows, make the channel page explain what the channel is so the number is read in context, and accept that under 1,000 the count is exact and on display.
Some creators also use YouTube subscribers so a new channel doesn't open with a count that reads as empty.
