Only professional accounts get Insights. If you switch a personal account to a creator or business account, which is free and reversible, the steps are:
- Open your profile and tap the professional dashboard, or open the menu and tap Insights.
- Choose a date range. Insights covers recent periods, such as the last 7, 30 or 90 days.
- Look under profile activity for Profile visits: the number of times your profile was visited in that range.
- Next to it you'll find related actions, such as taps on the link in your bio, that started from the profile.

It counts visits, not people, so one person opening your profile several times can add several visits. Why did my profile visits drop?
Profile visits follow reach. Most visits start from a post, Reel or Story that someone saw and wanted more of, so when your content reaches fewer people, fewer of them tap through to the profile. A drop usually traces back to fewer posts, posts that stayed inside your existing followers, or a comparison against a period that included one unusually strong Reel. Check reach for the same date range before assuming anything changed about the profile itself. Insights also only starts collecting once an account is professional, so a newly switched account has no history to compare against.
Does Instagram show who viewed your profile through Stories?
Not through Stories either, but Stories are why people think it might. When you post a Story, you can see which accounts watched it, and the list is available for a limited time after posting. What to do with profile visits you can't name
Treat the number as a conversion question. Profile visits tell you how many times people came to look; follower growth over the same period tells you how many of them decided to stay. If visits rise and follows don't, the problem is on the profile: the bio, the first row of the grid, the highlights, or a follower count that doesn't look worth joining.
That last point is where the number people see matters. A visitor has a second or two, and the count at the top of the page is part of how they decide. Accounts that want the profile to read as established sometimes buy Instagram followers, and add Instagram Story views or Reels views so the content a visitor opens doesn't look ignored.
