How to See Your Comments on YouTube
Your comments aren't on your channel page. YouTube files them in your account's activity history, and a comment you can see isn't always one anyone else can.
How to see your comments on YouTube: open your comment history, which YouTube keeps with your Google account's activity, not on your channel. On a computer, go to History and choose Comments under Manage all history, or open myactivity.google.com and filter for YouTube comments. Each entry links back to its video.
In the YouTube app, the same list is reached through your history settings: from the You tab, open Manage all history, then the Interactions tab, and look for comments and replies. Menu labels shift between app versions, so if you don't see it, search for comment history in YouTube's help center, which links straight to the page. As of September 2026 there is no Comments tab on a channel's own profile that lists what that person has written elsewhere.
YouTube's comment history is the record of every public comment and reply your account has posted, stored with your Google account's activity rather than on your channel. That placement explains most of the confusion.
A YouTube channel page shows what the channel has published: videos, Shorts, playlists, posts. It doesn't show what the account has said on other people's videos, and nobody visiting your channel can browse your comments from there. The only complete list is the one YouTube shows you, through the history tools, alongside your watch and search history. It's private to you in the sense that nobody else sees it as a list; each comment is still public where you posted it.
There's one more twist. A comment you can see in your history isn't necessarily visible to the public. Channels can hold comments for review, filter words and block links, and a held comment waits in the channel's YouTube Studio for up to 60 days, not shown publicly unless the owner approves it. From your side it can look perfectly normal. From the video's side, the comment count doesn't include it, and on a new video that count is one of the first things a visitor reads under the player, which is why creators pay attention to YouTube comments on a fresh upload.
How to find your comments on YouTube on a computer
Two routes to the same list:
- On youtube.com, open History from the left menu. Under Manage all history, choose Comments. This opens your YouTube comment history.
- Or go to myactivity.google.com, filter by YouTube, and open your YouTube comments activity. The search box and date filter help when you remember a phrase or roughly when you wrote it.
- Click a comment's video link to jump back to the video with your comment shown near the top.
How to see my comments on YouTube on a phone
In the YouTube app, tap You, open your history settings through Manage all history, and choose the Interactions tab, where comments and replies are listed. You can also open the same My Activity page in your phone's browser. If the app's menus have moved in your version, the browser route always works.
How to view your YouTube comments on a specific video
Open the video and sort the comments by Newest first; your own comment should be near the top if it was recent. Faster still: open the comment from your history or from a notification, and YouTube usually loads the video with that comment at the top of the section, marked Highlighted comment.
That label confuses people, so it's worth a line. A highlighted comment is not a feature the creator switched on and not a sign that anyone promoted your comment. YouTube adds it when you arrive at a video through a link that points to a specific comment, from your history or from a notification. The link carries a comment identifier, and YouTube shows that comment first for whoever opens that exact link. Nobody else loading the video normally sees it highlighted.
How to find a reply to your comment
Replies to your comments arrive as notifications, in the bell menu on a computer and in the notifications tab in the app, if you haven't turned comment notifications off. Opening one takes you to the video with the thread shown first. If you missed the notification, find your comment in your history, open it, and expand the replies under it. Replies from the channel owner are marked with the creator's name badge, and a heart from the creator appears as a small icon under your comment.
Why can't I find my comment on the video?
If a comment appears in your history but you can't find it on the video, or someone tells you they can't see it, one of these is usually the reason:
- Sorting. Top comments hides many comments by default. Switch to Newest first.
- Held for review. The channel holds all comments, or potentially inappropriate ones, or comments containing links or blocked words, for approval. Held comments stay in the channel's Studio for up to 60 days and aren't public unless approved.
- Removed. The channel owner, a moderator or YouTube's automatic systems removed it, for example as spam. A removed comment usually disappears from your history as well.
- Hidden user. The channel added your account to its hidden users, so your comments don't appear on its videos.
- Comments turned off or paused after you posted, which hides existing comments or stops new ones.
How to tell if your comment is held for review
YouTube doesn't notify you. The practical test is to open the video in a private browser window, signed out, sort by Newest first, and look for your comment. If you can see it signed in and not signed out, it isn't public. Links are the most common trigger, because many channels hold every comment containing a URL. How to edit or delete your YouTube comments
From your comment history, open the menu next to any comment and delete it. To edit instead, follow the link to the video, open the menu on your comment and choose Edit; an edited comment shows an edited label.
YouTube doesn't provide a documented button to delete all of your comments in one step. You can remove them one by one from the history, which is manageable with the date filter if you're cleaning up a particular period. Deleting your YouTube channel removes its content, comments included, but that's a drastic route and deletes far more than comments.
What comments tell a channel, and a visitor
For the channel, comments are part of what YouTube reports as engagement, and the owner sees them all in Studio, including the held ones. For a visitor, the comment count and the first few comments shape whether a video seems alive. A video with a large view count and a silent comment section reads as passive viewing; a lively section suggests a community. That visible layer is what YouTube comments add to, and the like count next to it is covered by YouTube likes. Neither changes whether a particular channel holds comments for review; that is the owner's setting.
Can other people see my YouTube comment history?
Not as a list. Your comment history is visible only to you when you're signed in. Each comment remains public on the video where you posted it, with your channel name and picture, so anyone reading that video's comments sees it, and clicking your name leads to your channel. But there's no page where someone else can browse everything you've written.
If you want fewer traces, deleting individual comments removes them from both the video and your history. Changing your channel name or picture changes how your existing comments appear, since they display your current identity. Every YouTube service is listed on the YouTube page.
