How to Cancel a SoundCloud Subscription: Go+, Artist and Artist Pro

SoundCloud won't let you cancel inside its app, and cancelling an Artist plan doesn't delete a single track. It hides some, on a schedule worth knowing first.

Updated October 2026

How to cancel a SoundCloud subscription: sign in on soundcloud.com in a browser, open your Subscriptions page, click Edit next to the plan, choose Opt-out of your current plan, then Confirm and Cancel your Plan. As of October 2026 you can't cancel inside the SoundCloud app, and plans bought through Apple or Google Play are cancelled in those stores.

You'll know it worked when the page shows EXPIRES next to the billing date. Nothing ends that day: you keep the plan's features until the period you already paid for runs out. What happens after that depends on the plan, and for Artist and Artist Pro it's worth reading before you click.

The part most guides skip

SoundCloud sells two families of subscription, and cancelling each one means something different. Go and Go+ are listener plans: ad-free listening, offline downloads and, on Go+, the full catalog. There's also a DJ plan built on Go+ for use inside DJ software. Artist and Artist Pro are creator plans: more upload time, monetization through SoundCloud for Artists, distribution to other services and deeper stats. Artist is available only in some territories, and Artist Pro subscribers get a discount on Go+.

All of them are billed monthly or yearly and renew automatically, and SoundCloud's Help Center says plans can't be paused. Cancelling is the only way to stop the next charge.

For a creator, cancelling changes what listeners can find. Tracks that fall outside the free upload limit are hidden from the public, and the plays they collected stop being visible to new listeners until you resubscribe. The play count on the tracks that stay public is the number a new listener reads first, and it's the one SoundCloud plays add to. It doesn't come with royalties attached, which matters more once you've left a monetized plan.

Where do you manage SoundCloud subscriptions?

On the website. As of October 2026, SoundCloud's Help Center states that subscription cancellations can't be completed in the SoundCloud app. The steps, from a desktop or mobile browser:

  • Sign in at soundcloud.com with the account that holds the plan.
  • Open your Subscriptions page, at soundcloud.com/you/subscriptions.
  • Click Edit next to the plan you want to cancel.
  • Choose Opt-out of your current plan, then Confirm and Cancel your Plan.
  • Check that EXPIRES now appears next to the billing date. If it doesn't, the cancellation didn't go through.

If you pay through PayPal

The same Subscriptions page handles PayPal billing. Cancel the plan there first, so SoundCloud records the cancellation, rather than only stopping the payment on the PayPal side.

How do you cancel Go+ on iPhone?

If you subscribed through the App Store, Apple holds the billing, so you cancel with Apple:

  • Open the Settings app on your iPhone and tap your name.
  • Tap Subscriptions.
  • Tap the SoundCloud subscription and choose Cancel Subscription.

On Android, if you paid through Google Play

Open the Play Store app, tap your profile picture, go to Payments and subscriptions, then Subscriptions, select SoundCloud and cancel. SoundCloud's Help Center is clear that it can't cancel or refund store purchases for you; the store that took the payment handles both.

Not sure where you subscribed?

Open your Subscriptions page on soundcloud.com. A plan billed through SoundCloud shows an Edit option there; a store subscription is managed in the store's own settings.

Do you get a refund after cancelling?

Usually not. As of October 2026, SoundCloud's Help Center says it doesn't offer refunds for delivered subscriptions. Cancelling stops future payments, and you keep access until the end of the period you've already paid for, monthly or yearly.

That has a practical consequence for yearly plans: cancel any time before the renewal date and you lose nothing you've paid for, but cancelling the day after a renewal won't return that year's charge.

For App Store or Google Play purchases, refund requests go to Apple or Google under their own policies. If you see a charge you don't recognize, check which store or payment method it came through before contacting anyone, since the one that billed you is the only one that can reverse it.

What happens to offline tracks after cancelling Go+?

They stay usable until the billing cycle ends. SoundCloud's Help Center says you keep premium features, including ad-free listening and offline downloads, until the date shown as expiring on your Subscriptions page. After that the account goes back to the free, ad-supported tier, and offline listening is a paid feature; is SoundCloud free covers what that tier still gives you.

Two details trip people up. Offline downloads are stored only within the app, so they can't be moved to another player and they're lost if you uninstall the app or sign out.

Your likes, playlists and follows are part of the account, not the plan, so they stay where they are. SoundCloud vs Spotify compares what each free tier leaves you with.

What happens to my tracks if I cancel SoundCloud Artist?

None are deleted, but some are hidden. As of October 2026, SoundCloud's Help Center describes it this way: when your plan ends, your oldest uploads above the new plan's upload limit are hidden from listeners. Basic, the free plan, allows 2 hours of uploads in total; Artist allows 3 hours; Artist Pro has no time limit.

So someone dropping from Artist Pro to Basic keeps their newest 2 hours of tracks public, and everything older than that is hidden. Hidden tracks still appear on your own Tracks page, and their stats and comments come back if you resubscribe. The hiding also covers tracks published through your RSS feed or SoundCloud for Artists.

Choosing which tracks stay public

Because the rule hides the oldest uploads first, the only way to keep an older track public on a free plan is to make room under the 2-hour limit. Deleting or downloading and removing tracks you no longer need, before the plan expires, changes what's left over. How to upload songs to SoundCloud covers formats and metadata if you re-upload later.

Does cancelling remove monetization?

Yes, after a grace period. Monetization through SoundCloud for Artists, including fan-powered royalties, requires an Artist or Artist Pro plan, and the free Basic plan isn't eligible. SoundCloud's Help Center says distributed or monetized content is taken down from third-party services such as Spotify and Apple Music and demonetized 30 days after the subscription ends.

That 30 days is your window. Renew within it and releases should be reinstated within 7 days, according to the same article. Let it pass and the releases come down from the other platforms.

If you're cancelling because the plan isn't paying for itself, does SoundCloud pay artists explains how fan-powered royalties divide the money, which shows why a large play count and a large payout aren't the same thing.

Should you downgrade instead of cancelling?

If you're on Artist Pro and only need monetization and a bit more upload time, Artist, where it's available in your country, keeps monetization and 3 hours of uploads at a lower price. For a listener, compare Go with Go+ on the Subscriptions page before cancelling outright; the cheaper plan may cover what you actually use.

If you're cancelling everything, do two things first: decide which older tracks you can live without hiding, and note the expiry date so distributed releases don't lapse by accident.

For tracks that stay public, the play count is what a new listener sees first. SoundCloud plays add to it using only the public track URL, never your login, and they aren't monetized streams. How SoundCloud counts plays explains the number, and every SoundCloud service is on the SoundCloud page.
