How to Pin a Comment on TikTok
The pinned comment is the only line in your comment section you get to choose. Here is how to set it, why the button sometimes isn't there, and what to put in it.
How to pin a comment on TikTok: open one of your own videos in the TikTok app, tap the comment icon, press and hold the comment you want to feature, and tap Pin. It moves to the top of the list with a Pinned label, for everyone who opens the comments. Only the video's creator can pin.
Two caveats, as of September 2026. TikTok's own help center does not document pinning at all, and since 2025 many creators have reported that the Pin option has disappeared from their app, without any announcement from TikTok either way. And pinning is a phone-app action: the desktop site lets you read and reply to comments, but guides that have tested it consistently report no Pin option there. Where the option exists, one comment per video stays pinned; pinning a second one replaces the first.
A pinned comment is a comment the creator has fixed to the top of a video's comment section, above whatever TikTok would otherwise rank first. That is the whole mechanism, and it matters more than it sounds.
On TikTok, the order of comments is decided by the platform. The comments people see first are usually the ones with the most likes or replies, and on a video that travels outside your followers those can be jokes, complaints or questions you would rather answer once than a hundred times. The caption is short and often truncated. The pinned comment is the only other piece of text in that space that you choose, and it is shown to every viewer who opens the comments, not only to your followers.
That is why experienced creators treat it as the FAQ of the video. The question half the comments are asking goes in the pinned comment, answered. The correction goes there when a video is misunderstood. The link to part two goes there. And the reply with a video feature turns the other direction: it takes one comment and makes it the subject of a new video, which then carries the comment with it as a sticker. One keeps the conversation on this video tidy; the other turns it into the next video. Both assume there is a conversation to work with; a section with three comments has little to pin, which is the gap TikTok comments are used to fill on a new video.
How to pin comments on TikTok, step by step
The path is the same on iPhone and Android, as long as the option is present in your version of the app:
- Open the TikTok app and go to your profile.
- Tap the video whose comment you want to pin. It has to be your own video.
- Tap the comment icon on the right side to open the comment section.
- Press and hold the comment you want to feature. You can pin someone else's comment or one you wrote yourself.
- Tap Pin comment in the menu that appears. The comment moves to the top with a Pinned label.
How to unpin or change a pinned comment
Press and hold the pinned comment and tap Unpin. It returns to wherever TikTok's ranking places it. To swap it for another comment, simply pin the new one: the previous pin is released automatically, because only one comment per video holds the top spot.
Can you pin your own comment?
Yes. Many creators write the comment themselves precisely so they can pin it: a direct answer to the question the video raises, the name of the song or product, a correction. Posting the comment and pinning it takes a few seconds, and it gives you a second caption that nobody can scroll past on the way into the comments.
How to pin comments on TikTok on computer
You can't, as far as published tests show. On tiktok.com you can open a video's comments, read them, like them and reply, but the menu on each comment does not offer Pin. TikTok hasn't published a statement on this, so the practical answer is to pin from the app on your phone, then carry on managing comments wherever you like. A pin set on the phone shows for every viewer, including people watching on a computer.
If you manage a channel mostly from a desktop, keep your phone at hand for the first hour after posting. That is when the comment ranking settles, and it is the moment a pinned comment does the most work, because early viewers are the ones who shape which comments rise.
Why is there no Pin option on my TikTok?
Go through these in order. Each one produces the same missing button, and only one is outside your control.
- The video is not yours. Viewers can like and reply, but only the creator can pin.
- You are on the desktop site, where the option is not offered.
- Your app is out of date. Update it from the App Store or Google Play and try again.
- Your account or app version doesn't have the feature. Since 2025 many creators have reported the option vanishing after an update, and TikTok has neither confirmed a removal nor announced a return, so availability appears to vary by account and region.
What to do if you can't pin
Two tools do part of the same job. The first is the caption: put the one line every viewer needs at its very start, before it gets truncated. The second is replying with a video. On a comment, tap Reply and choose the video option, and TikTok opens the camera with that comment attached as a sticker. The answer becomes a new post that people can find on its own. Some users have also reported that TikTok now marks the earliest comment on a video with a First Comment label, which creators use by commenting on their own video immediately after posting; TikTok hasn't documented that label either, so treat it as a bonus rather than a plan.
What should a pinned comment say?
Whatever saves the most repeated replies. Read the first twenty or thirty comments on a video and look for the question that keeps coming back. That is the pin. A few patterns work across niches: the answer to the question the video raises but doesn't resolve; a correction when the video is being misread; credit for a sound, a recipe or an original creator; the link or search term for part two.
What doesn't work is a pin that asks for something without giving anything, like a bare request to follow. The pinned comment is the first thing a curious viewer reads, and it earns its place by answering them.
The pin also changes how a comment section reads to a stranger. A video with a solid view count and only a handful of comments looks unfinished, and the pinned comment is often the first reply people react to. That is the part of the page that TikTok comments change: they add to the visible count and give the section something to read. They don't choose which comment is pinned; that stays your decision.
Does pinning a comment help the algorithm?
TikTok doesn't say that pinning is a ranking signal, and nobody outside TikTok can show that it is. What pinning does change is behavior: a good pinned comment gets replies and likes, and the conversation under a video is part of what people react to. How to see your comments on TikTok
For comments you have written on other people's videos, TikTok keeps a list in the app. Go to your profile, tap the three-line menu, and look for Activity center, then Comment history. Several users reported that the menu moved or disappeared for a while after updates, so if you don't see Activity center, check under Settings and privacy. The list shows each comment with a link back to the video, which is also the quickest way to delete an old comment: open the video from the list and remove it there.
For comments other people left on your videos, the inbox shows new comments as they arrive, and each video's comment section holds the full list. TikTok's analytics count comments per video in your creator tools, which is where you'll see the totals without scrolling.
Why can't I scroll comments on TikTok?
Usually because the list hasn't loaded, not because anything is hidden. The common causes are an unstable connection, an outdated app and a full cache. Close and reopen the app, update it, and on Android clear the cache from the app's settings. If only one video misbehaves, the creator may have limited or turned off comments on it, or comments may be filtered: creators can filter keywords and spam, and filtered comments are held from public view.
If you can see the count but not the comments, the video may have comments restricted to certain audiences, such as friends only. The number counts everything that was posted; the list shows only what you're allowed to see.
How to comment pictures on TikTok
TikTok began rolling out photo comments around March 2025. When the feature is available on your account, the comment box shows an image icon next to the emoji button; tap it and choose a picture from your camera roll. The rollout has been gradual, so some accounts still don't have it, and a photo comment follows the same Community Guidelines as any other post.
For creators, a picture can be the clearest answer to a repeated question: a screenshot, a recipe card or a size chart posted as your own comment says in one image what would take a paragraph. Whether a photo comment can be pinned the same way as a text one isn't documented, so check in your own app before planning around it.
