How to See Analytics on TikTok

The numbers are one menu away. The one worth reading first is where your views came from.

Updated October 2026

How to see analytics on TikTok: go to your profile, tap the menu in the top right, open TikTok Studio and choose Analytics. You get an account overview for a chosen date window, a content tab for each post, and a followers or viewers tab. For a single video, open it and tap the analytics or More data option.

TikTok analytics is the private dashboard that shows an account owner how their posts performed: views, watch time, likes, comments, shares, follower changes, and where the views came from. Visitors never see it; they see only the public counters.

The number most worth reading is the traffic source on each video. It tells you whether TikTok showed the video to strangers on the For You feed or whether it was watched mostly by people who already follow you.

The part most guides skip

Most people open TikTok analytics and look at total views. The more useful figure is one screen deeper.

Every video's analytics split its views by traffic source. As of October 2026 the categories include For You, Personal profile, Following, Search, Sound and Other. Each one is a different door into the video.

For You means TikTok's recommendation system put the video in front of people, most of whom do not follow you. Following means it reached your followers in their Following feed. Personal profile means people opened your profile and tapped the video there. Search means someone typed a query and found it. Sound means they came through the audio's page.

Read together, these tell you what happened to the video. A high For You share means TikTok tested the video with strangers and kept going; the video earned distribution. A video that is mostly Following and Personal profile was watched by people who already knew you, and TikTok did not push it much further. A video with a large Search share has a second life that can last much longer than the feed's first days.

That is a far more specific diagnosis than a view total, because two videos with the same views can have completely different stories. If a video stalled near zero, the source breakdown is the first place to look, and why a TikTok gets 0 views covers what an empty For You line usually means.

None of this is visible to anyone else. A visitor sees the public view counter and nothing behind it, which is why TikTok views work on that counter while analytics remains your private record of where attention came from.

Where do I find analytics on TikTok?

TikTok has moved analytics more than once, so older guides point to menus that no longer exist. In the current app:

  • 1. Tap Profile at the bottom right.
  • 2. Tap the menu icon, three lines, in the top right.
  • 3. Tap TikTok Studio. Older versions called this Creator tools.
  • 4. Tap Analytics. You land on the Overview tab.
  • 5. Use the tabs across the top for Content, Viewers or Followers, and LIVE if you stream.

How do you check the analytics of one TikTok video?

Open the video from your profile. Tap the three-dot menu or the analytics option at the bottom of the screen, labeled More data or with a small chart icon depending on the version.

The per-video screen shows total views, likes, comments, shares and saves, total and average watch time, the percentage who watched the full video, new followers gained from it, and the traffic source breakdown. Some videos also show search queries that led people to them.

The watch time figures are the ones TikTok's recommendation system cares most about. Average watch time against the video's length tells you how much of it people actually saw. A short video watched to the end, or watched twice, will usually outperform a long one abandoned early.

The Content tab in the main dashboard lists your recent posts with their headline figures, which is the fastest way to compare several videos side by side. When you work out engagement from these numbers, the TikTok engagement rate formulas explain why two calculators can give different answers from the same data.

Do you need a business account to see TikTok analytics?

No. Older guides say you must switch to a Pro or business account first. As of October 2026 TikTok Studio, including Analytics, is available on personal accounts as well as business accounts.

If Analytics does not appear in your TikTok Studio, update the app first. If it is still missing, check Settings and privacy, then Account, for an option to switch account type; some accounts still see that switch, and a creator or business setting brings analytics in.

Business accounts get extra tools through TikTok's business products, including Business Suite on the web, but the core analytics are the same.

The one place follower count matters is audience data. Follower demographics such as age, gender and location are widely reported to appear only once an account has at least 100 followers. Below that, the tab stays empty however active the account is.

How far back do TikTok analytics go?

The date picker offers preset windows rather than a free timeline. As of October 2026 the presets are the last 7, 28, 60 and 365 days, plus a custom range.

That is longer than it used to be. Earlier versions of the app showed only 7, 28 or 60 days, which made year-on-year comparison impossible without exporting data regularly. Guides written then are still widely copied.

On the web version of TikTok Studio, you can download analytics data, which is the practical way to keep a long record. If you report on your account monthly, export at the end of each month rather than relying on the app to keep everything.

Per-video analytics stay with the video for as long as it is posted. If you delete a video, its analytics go with it.

Why are my TikTok analytics not showing?

Five usual reasons.

The account is new or has just posted. Data takes time to process, so analytics for a video posted an hour ago will be thin or missing, and an account with no posts in the window has nothing to show.

The date window is wrong. If you posted nothing in the last 7 days and the picker is set to 7 days, the overview will be empty. Widen the window.

The followers tab is empty because the account is under the audience-data threshold. That is a minimum TikTok applies, not a fault.

The app is outdated. Analytics moved into TikTok Studio, and an old version may show the old menu or none.

The account is restricted. An account under restrictions can lose access to some features until the restriction ends.

If views look frozen rather than missing, that is a different problem, and the public counter and the analytics figure can update at different speeds.

What do the traffic sources mean in TikTok analytics?

For You: people who were shown the video by the recommendation system. This is where reach beyond your followers comes from, and what FYP means on TikTok explains how that feed is filled.

Following: your followers, watching from their Following feed.

Personal profile: people who opened your profile and tapped the video. A high share often means another video sent them to your profile.

Search: people who typed a query and found the video. Search traffic tends to continue long after the feed has moved on.

Sound: people who arrived through the page for the audio you used.

Other: everything that does not fit, including shared links opened from outside the app and direct messages.

The shares themselves have their own limits on what you can see about who passed a video on, which who shared your TikTok covers in full.

Which TikTok numbers matter most?

For deciding what to make next: average watch time, the percentage who watched the full video, and the For You share. Those three describe whether TikTok could find an audience for the video and whether that audience stayed.

For understanding your audience: the follower activity times, which show when your followers are on the app, and the demographics, once they appear.

For judging a single post's effect on the account: new followers from that video and the Personal profile share, which together show whether people wanted more of you after watching.

The public counters, views, likes, comments and shares, are what visitors read, and they shape a stranger's first impression of a video before they decide to stay. TikTok likes and TikTok views are the matching services for those counters; every TikTok service is on the TikTok page.
